Job Description

`
- **Location**: Singapore (Gul Avenue)
- **Company Overview**:
- Makino Asia is a global leader in high-precision metal-cutting and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) technology. As a fully integrated manufacturing entity, our Singapore headquarters houses R&D, engineering, and production under one roof, serving critical industries such as aerospace, automotive, and precision engineering.
- We are committed to technical excellence and innovation. Joining Makino means joining a community that values technical self-sufficiency, structured career development, and the pursuit of manufacturing perfection.
- **Role Overview**:
- Are you a software engineer who finds pure desk-based coding uninspiring? At Makino, we are looking for a Software Engineer (Machine Control) to join our EDM Business Unit. This is a hands-on role where you will bridge the gap between abstract software design and physical machine behavior. You will own the software lifecycle—from R&D and UI design to international release and field troubleshooting—enabling our high-precision machines to perform at their peak.
- **Key Responsibilities**:
- **Develop & Iterate Control Systems:** Design and implement machine-control logic and user interfaces (UI) using C# and C++, focusing on precision and reliability.
- **Bridge Software and Hardware:** Spend significant time on the shop floor validating code against physical hardware, diagnosing machine behavior, and iterating on designs to ensure seamless integration.
- **Design Intuitive Interfaces:** Build and refine operator screens (using WPF/C#) that simplify complex machining processes, focusing on operator ease-of-use and efficiency.
- **Full Lifecycle Ownership:** Support the product from initial R&D through to international market release, including contributing to technical presentations and training materials for applications and service teams.
- **Autonomous Problem Solving:** Proactively diagnose and resolve technical challenges on the machine, moving from supervised tasks to proposing and implementing independent, creative solutions.
- **Requirements**:
- **Minimum/Core Requirements:**
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
- Proficiency in C# programming.
- A genuine appetite for hands-on, shop-floor work; you should be excited by the prospect of working directly with physical hardware and robotics.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a technical R&D environment.
- Advanced professional proficiency in English to collaborate effectively with international teams.
- A commitment to long-term professional growth and building deep domain expertise in a specialized field.
- **Preferred/Bonus Requirements:**
- Experience with WPF for UI development.
- Proficiency in C or C++ programming.
- Exposure to control systems, industrial automation, robotics, or PLC/fieldbus concepts.
- Prior experience with CNC or EDM machine software is a significant advantage.
- **Why you should be interested**:
- **See Your Code Move:** Unlike pure software roles, your work here results in the tangible movement of high-precision machinery used by manufacturers globally.
- **Comprehensive Training:** We provide a structured training program to help you master the specialized domain of EDM machine control, ensuring you have the foundation to succeed.
- **Structured Career Tracks:** We offer clear progression paths, allowing you to choose between becoming a Technical Expert or moving into a Managerial track as your career evolves.
- **Global Impact:** Be part of an R&D hub where you contribute to international product launches and solve complex engineering challenges for world-class industries.
- Ready to build the future of precision engineering? We look forward to seeing your application.
