- **Role Overview**:
- As a Technical Associate within our Customer Service team, you will be trained to become a trusted technical representative for Makino’s high-precision machinery. This is a hands-on, field-based role designed for an early-career engineer eager to master complex troubleshooting, manage installations, and provide world-class service to our regional clients.
- **Key Responsibilities**:
- **Technical Service & Troubleshooting:** Perform on-site electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and both scheduled and unscheduled service support for high-precision machining centers and EDM machines.
- **Installation & Project Execution:** Lead the installation and commissioning of complex machinery at customer sites, providing essential pre-installation assistance and thorough post-installation check-ups to ensure operational excellence.
- **Customer Education & Relationship Management:** Develop strong professional relationships with customers, educating them on basic maintenance and technical support to maximize machine performance and longevity.
- **Operational Excellence & Safety:** Maintain meticulous service reports, document defective parts, and ensure all tools and equipment are calibrated and kept in good working order according to Makino standards.
- **Regional Technical Support:** Participate in regional assignments (approximately 2-3 times per year) to support equipment installations and service requirements in markets including China, India, and Malaysia.
- **Compliance & Safety:** Strictly adhere to all Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies and safe work procedures, maintaining high safety standards at all times.
- **Requirements**:
- **Minimum/Core Requirements:**
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in Business Mandarin is required to effectively communicate technical solutions to our Mandarin-speaking client base in Singapore and support regional assignments in North Asia (China).
- Demonstrated passion for engineering and a hands-on mindset, with a preference for field-based troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills in English for professional documentation, system updates, and internal reporting.
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally (roughly one week per trip) when required.
- **Preferred/Bonus Requirements:**
- Prior experience or exposure to CNC or EDM machinery.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role or field service environment.
- A coachable attitude with the ability to analyze critical electrical and mechanical issues under pressure.
