Makino

Job Description

- **Location**: 2 Gul Avenue, Singapore 629649
- **Company Overview**:
- Makino Asia is a regional headquarters and a world-class integrated manufacturing entity. We specialize in high-precision metal-cutting and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) technology, serving critical industries such as aerospace, automotive, and precision engineering.
- Our Singapore facility is a hub of innovation, housing R&D, engineering, and production under one roof. At Makino, we are committed to technical excellence and structured career development, offering our team members clear pathways for growth in a sophisticated, technology-driven environment.
- **Role Overview**:
- This is a unique "bridge" role designed for an engineering professional looking to pivot into Human Resources. You will serve as the vital link between our technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and our people development programs. Your primary mission is to translate complex manufacturing processes into effective training content while leading our early-career and internship recruitment initiatives.
- **Key Responsibilities**:
- **Drive Early-Career Talent Acquisition**: Manage the end-to-end recruitment and management of internship and industrial attachment programs, acting as the primary point of contact for educational institutions and internal stakeholders.
- **Technical Training Development**: Collaborate closely with Engineering SMEs to understand high-precision machining and EDM processes. You will use this technical literacy to shape credible training manuals, guides, and e-learning materials.
- **Learning & Development Administration**: Oversee the administration of training programs, including course registrations and managing government funding claims (such as SDF/SRP), ensuring seamless operational delivery.
- **Generalist HR Support**: Support a broad range of HR activities, including recruitment for various functions, employee engagement initiatives, and general HR administration to support a 500-strong workforce.
- **Requirements**:
- **Minimum/Core Requirements**:
- **Technical Foundation**: A Diploma or Degree in an Engineering discipline is required to effectively engage with specialized machining content and maintain credibility when collaborating with technical SMEs.
- **Demonstrated Interest in People Development**: A clear and authentic motivation to transition from a technical engineering background into a career in Human Resources or Learning & Development.
- **Organizational Excellence**: Exceptional coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder programs and administrative workstreams simultaneously.
- **Communication Skills**: Strong interpersonal and "bridging" skills to extract and structure knowledge from technical experts into usable learning formats.
- **Preferred/Bonus Requirements**:
- Formal qualifications in Human Resources (Degree or Diploma).
- Familiarity with Singapore’s employment landscape, including training administration and funding frameworks.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- **Why you should be interested**:
- **A Unique Career Pivot**: This role offers a rare opportunity to transition into HR without "restarting" your career; your engineering education is a direct asset and a requirement for success here.
- **Foundational Impact**: You will play a key role in building the technical capability of a world-class manufacturing facility by shaping how knowledge is captured and shared.
- **Structured Growth**: Join an established HR team with clear career advancement tracks and a culture that values technical expertise.
- **Comprehensive Benefits**: We offer a competitive package including a variable bonus, Annual Wage Supplement (AWS), and islandwide transport coverage to our Gul Avenue facility.
- Ready to apply your engineering mindset to people development? We look forward to hearing from you.
