R&D Electrical Engineer
Job Description
- **Location**: 2 Gul Avenue, Singapore (Fully Onsite)
- **Company Overview**:
- Makino Asia is the regional headquarters for Makino Milling Machine Co., Ltd. (Japan). We are a fully integrated manufacturing entity where R&D, engineering, and production thrive under one roof. We specialize in high-precision metal-cutting and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) technology, serving the aerospace, automotive, and precision engineering sectors globally.
- Driven by a commitment to innovation, our Singapore hub is a center for high-level assembly and R&D. We offer a structured environment that emphasizes technical self-sufficiency and continuous learning, providing our team members with clear progression paths in both technical and leadership tracks.
- **Role Overview**:
- We are looking for a practical and curious engineer to join our CNC Milling development team. This is a unique "hybrid" role where you will bridge the gap between digital design and physical reality. Reporting to a Senior Principal Engineer, you will spend your time both designing sophisticated control circuits at your desk and working hands-on with machines on the shop floor to validate your work.
- **Key Responsibilities**:
- **Electrical & Control Circuit Design:** Develop and refine electrical schematics and control circuit drawings for high-precision CNC machines using professional CAD systems (e.g., EPLAN).
- **Physical Validation & Troubleshooting:** Take your designs from the screen to the shop floor. You will be actively involved in the assembly and testing of control panels and machines, ensuring theoretical designs perform reliably in a physical environment.
- **Engineering Documentation:** Manage the full lifecycle of design documentation, including the creation of Bill of Materials (BOM), Engineering Change Orders (ECO), and technical reports with a high degree of precision.
- **Collaborative Development:** Work closely with senior mentors and the wider R&D team to adopt Makino’s rigorous engineering standards and contribute to the development of next-generation machining technology.
- **Requirements**:
- **Minimum/Core Requirements:**
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (EE/EEE).
- Demonstrated experience in hands-on electrical or control circuit design within a professional engineering environment.
- Proficiency in at least one electrical CAD system (e.g., EPLAN, E3, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical).
- Working knowledge of PLC systems, with the ability to read and integrate PLC logic into circuit and panel designs.
- A strong "builder" mindset with a proven interest in working on the shop floor and physically troubleshooting machine hardware.
- **Preferred/Bonus Requirements:**
- Prior experience using EPLAN for industrial design.
- Experience within the machine-tool, industrial automation, or high-speed manufacturing sectors.
- Ability to thrive in a structured, mentorship-heavy environment and a desire to master high-accuracy engineering standards.
- **Why you should be interested**:
- **See Your Designs Come to Life:** Unlike traditional R&D roles, you are embedded in a fully integrated facility. You will see the direct impact of your designs as they are manufactured and assembled just floors away from your desk.
- **Technical Masterclass:** Benefit from a highly structured onboarding and On-the-Job Training (OJT) program led by Senior Principal Engineers who are experts in precision machine-tool technology.
- **Career Stability & Growth:** Join a global leader with a clear career track. Whether you aim to become a deep technical expert or a managerial leader, we provide the framework to help you get there.
- **Comprehensive Benefits:** We support our team with islandwide transport coverage, competitive variable bonuses, and an Annual Wage Supplement (AWS).
Ready to build the future of precision engineering? We look forward to your application.
