Founded in 1990, we offer a stable, innovation-driven environment with a deep commitment to technical excellence and professional growth.
- **Role Overview**:
- We are seeking a sharp, technically-minded Mechanical Engineer to join our Development team. This is a core design-and-improvement role where you will focus on the development of high-precision EDM systems.
- This position is 90% focused on development and R&D, translating engineering fundamentals into high-performance machinery. You will receive structured mentorship from senior technical experts as you master Makino’s high-precision standards in an integrated manufacturing environment.
- **Key Responsibilities**:
- **Execute High-Precision Mechanical Design:** Design and improve EDM machine structures, motion drives, and mechanical mechanisms using SolidWorks, ensuring all designs meet Makino’s rigorous precision standards.
- **Drive Design Validation:** Conduct rigorous testing and validation cycles to ensure the reliability and performance of new mechanical options and improvements.
- **Analytical Problem Solving:** Diagnose root causes of design performance issues and implement effective, cost-aware solutions through iterative mechanical testing.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Lead technical discussions and collaborate effectively with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product integration.
- **Integrated Production Support:** Provide high-level technical support (approximately 10% of time) to the production floor to resolve complex mechanical assembly or performance challenges encountered during the manufacturing process.
- **Requirements**:
- **Minimum/Core Requirements**:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) for mechanical design.
- A "builder" mindset with a high learning aptitude to master complex, niche technologies within a 6-month ramp-up period.
- Advanced professional English proficiency for technical documentation and cross-team collaboration.
- **Preferred/Bonus Requirements**:
- Prior experience or internships within the machine tool, EDM, or precision machinery sectors.
- Proficiency in Business Mandarin or Japanese is advantageous to facilitate effective technical collaboration and communication with our regional partners and headquarters in Japan.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (1–2 times per year) for regional or HQ site visits.
- **Why you should be interested**:
- **Direct Impact**: Work in a facility where R&D and production are integrated—see your designs move from the screen to the shop floor in real-time.
- **Technical Mastery**: Join a global leader in a niche, high-value domain. You will receive structured mentorship to master high-precision tolerances and advanced EDM technology.
- **Structured Career Path**: Benefit from clearly defined progression tracks, allowing you to grow as a Technical Expert or move toward Managerial leadership.
- **Comprehensive Support**: We provide islandwide transport coverage and a stable, supportive culture designed for long-term career development.
- Ready to build the future of precision engineering? We look forward to your application.
